How do unblockers work?

An unblocker is a kind of gateway that pass information between your computer and the site you're visiting. The unblocker accesses the site you want instead of you, accesses the page, and sends it on to you. So the site you want to access never sees your IP. So, basically you are visiting websites in an indirect manner. School firewalls only think you are accessing the unblocker, not the real site.
