How do unblockers work?

An unblocker is like a gateway that pass information between your computer and the site you're visiting. The unblocker visits the site instead of you, accesses the page, and forwards it to you. So the site you want to access only sees the unblocker's IP. So in effect you are browsing sites indirectly. School filters only think you are visiting the unblocker, not the destination site.
