An unblocker is like a gateway that work between your computer and the site you want to go to. The unblocker visits the site you want in your place, loads the page, and sends it off to you. So the site you want to be on never sees your IP. So actually you are visiting sites in an indirect way. School firewalls only think you are visiting the unblocker, not the real site.
