Other ways to get on a site are by using sites that translate pages , for example Google Translate or Babelfish. Also try Google's cached version of the site. Although, you probably won't be able to to login using these methods, so you're better off using an unblocker if you need to login.
An alternative method of unblocking a site at school is by setting up your own unblocker tool. This is more complicated than just using an unblocker but better in the long run because if they block it, you can make another.
